Getting WinPT (GPG for Windows)

1. Visit The WinPT Homepage and click the "download" link and get the "installer" version.

2. Install WinPT

WinPT Setup

Creating your key

• Download and install WinPT, following the install wizard:
  
• Once installed, run the Windows Privacy Tray (WinPT):
  
• If you are running WinPT for the first time, it will offer to start the Key Manager for you to generate keys. Click YES.
  
• If you need to generate a key, right-click on the WinPT in the system tray, then click "Key Manager"
  
  Then click "KEY" then "GENERATE"
  
• Enter your company email address in the "Username" and "Email" fields, select a passphrase, then click "Start"
  
• You will be prompted to backup your key-rings. Do this and store them in a safe place. NOTE: if you loose your keys, any encrypted data cannot be recovered.
  

Exporting your key

• In the Key Manager, highlight your key by clicking on it once:
  
• Then click "KEY" then "EXPORT"
  
• Choose a filename to save the keyfile to email to VECTEC.
  
• You will get a confirmation box
  
• Email this file to VECTEC as an attachment.

Decrypting text

• In the window with the encrypted text block, highlight the entire text block from the --BEGIN to --END
  
• Then click "EDIT" then "COPY"
  
• Then right-click on the WinPT icon in the system tray, then click on "CLIPBOARD" then "DECRYPT/VERIFY"
  
• Enter your passphrase in the input field
  
• To see the decrpted text, open any text editor and click "EDIT" then "PASTE"
