ASOSV Home.

(Mir/Atlantis) Friday, 06/30/95. A west to southeast transit from 10:00 to 10:03 p.m. Peak elevation will occur in the southern sky at 10:02, about 65 degrees above the horizon. Orbital altitude 392 km.

Result - Mir/Atlantis observed on time, maximum stellar magnitude approximately 1. Both vehicles changed color from white to red and then faded into earth shadow directly overhead. This was the first time Mir/Atlantis seen docked together from eastern VA, also the latest Mir evening transit observed to date (Summer solstice 11 days earlier).

(Mir/Atlantis) Sunday, 07/02/95. A southwest to south transit from 9:48 to 9:50 p.m. Peak elevation will occur in the southern sky at 9:49, about 35 degrees above the horizon. Orbital altitude 392 km.

Result - Mir/Atlantis observed for about 10 seconds through obscuring clouds, decending low toward the eastern horizon. Reflected light from the spacecraft combination was very bright, approximately stellar magnitude 0.

(Mir) Tuesday, 07/04/95. A west to southeast transit from 8:52 to 8:54 p.m. Peak elevation will occur in the southwestern sky at 8:53, about 65 degrees above the horizon. Orbital altitude 392 km.

Result - Mir observed on time. Shuttle Atlantis separated earlier in the day.
